No excuses, no pity: Tough love may be tough, but it’s the best thing you can give your child
Botox injections for your child? While there may be some benefits, there are also a number of risks you need to consider
Don’t let your child get written off as a hopeless case. You’re not just a parent – you’re your child’s best therapist and advocate.
Child (Pediatric) Stroke
Children and infants do have strokes – a fact that comes as a surprise to many people. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, one out of every 5,000 babies born has a stroke. In older children, stroke affects three out of every 100,000 kids.
Our team of extensively trained therapists specialize in treating children who have experienced a stroke. The sooner treatment begins, the better the prognosis. The earlier a child is brought for treatment, the better. In some cases, a child who is treated properly from the early stages of his life can become completely independent, and will not need any assistive devices. At Health in Motion, we are proud to have helped several children gain their independence in every aspect of their lives. Depending on your child's condition, we may use a variety of different therapies as a part of his treatment program. These could include:
Functional education - Through this treatment, our therapists work to develop and enhance a child’s daily functional activity.
Group therapy - We use group therapy to teach a child social skills and communication as well as improve his daily function and ability to interact.
Massage therapy - The massage therapists at Health in Motion specialize in the treatment of children and infants with different disorders. We do recommend massage therapy for children and infants who have experienced a stroke, as it releases tension from the nervous system and improves blood and lymphatic flow throughout the body. These actions can improve your child’s overall function.
Physiotherapy (Pediatric Rehabilitation) / Neuro Developmental Therapy - This treatment teaches the child functions such as crawling, sitting, standing and walking. In order to accomplish this, physiotherapists use specific remedial exercise regimes (based on the Bobath/NDT approach) which aim to decrease muscle spasms and improve the overall function of the patient.
Speech language and communication therapy - We use this therapy to improve a child’s speech and communication skills.

"Sasha had left hemispheric stroke, right side partial paralysis (hemiparesis) of his body, on March 10, 2000 at St. Petersburg, Russia. Sasha was walking with a limp, and did not use his right arm. We came at Health In Motion in October 2009. Today Sasha is walking with no limping and using right arm in everyday activities. Thank you!"
